A short documentary by Petra Terzi – July 2017

Synopsis:Mahmoud Abdel Rasul, a second-generation child from Sudan, completely interrupted his life as a doctor to volunteer all his time to organizing artistic and athletic activities, as well as Greek language lessons for refugees and their children, to better integrate them into Greek society.

Director’s note:
The message I want to convey in my new documentary film is that values and feelings such as friendship, cooperation, contribution, gratitude and love for all human beings are all part of every child of refugees, immigrants and citizens in today’s Greece. These virtues are the necessary ingredients for accepting diversity, integration, peaceful coexistence and survival. The nucleus of world peace is allowing these virtues, without any obstacles (“thorns”), to empower children. With the desire to film refugees and their children from single-parent families, I used this concept to film the children playing and engaging in artistic activities. I met Mahmud Abdel Rasul, a second-generation child from Sudan. Mahmud completely interrupted his life as a doctor to volunteer all his time to organizing artistic and athletic activities as well as Greek language lessons for refugees and their children to better integrate them into Greek society.
