Synopsis: Memory of Stone and Snow is a documentary that captures the life, history, and memories of the mountain village of Vradeto, located in the highest part of the Zagori region. Through the personal stories of residents and former inhabitants, the film explores the daily life, traditions, and social structure of a place that for many years seemed isolated and forgotten.

The documentary documents the lives of the locals and the Sarakatsani who lived in the village—their agricultural and pastoral activities, education, festivals, and rituals—as well as the solidarity and sense of community that characterized Vradeto. At the same time, it traces the historical evolution of the area, from the initial settlement of its inhabitants, through migration and depopulation, to the arrival of new populations and social change.

The narrative focuses on the personal memories of those who grew up there: the hardships of winter, local customs, animal care, food and cheese production, and relationships with visitors and foreign tourists, who served as a “bridge” to the outside world. Through these stories emerges Vradeto’s unique identity, the close bond between its people and nature, and a sense of nostalgia for a world gradually fading away.
