Synopsis: In the grey twilight of late-1980s communist Romania, a boy abandoned to his grandparents’ lives inside a chest of pre-war fairy tales whose illustrations spill off the page — a dragon climbs out not to be slain, but to be handed a thread of mohair and a crossword. When the parents who left him return, they cart his enchanted books away as wastepaper. The chest is empty; a world has been weighed, bundled and recycled — pulp.
