Loutraki is acquiring its own International Film Festival from now on, and starting this year, it will be held annually, after the Cannes Festival, in June, inaugurating the summer events season in Corinthia with a multifaceted character and international dimensions. The 6th Loutraki International Film Festival “BRIDGES” offered a rich cinematic experience with social and humanitarian themes, through the eyes of both new and experienced creators, and an oasis of optimism, inspiration, and mental upliftment, the kind that only art and culture can provide in the difficult times we live in. A large audience was entertained by the Festival’s activities and engaged with the attending artists.

The Festival is under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and the Municipality of Loutraki-Perachora-Agioi Theodoroi and is supported by the Greek Film Center.

On Friday, July 27, the sixth edition of the Loutraki International Film Festival “BRIDGES” concluded successfully. Locals, cinephiles, visitors, and artists attended the screenings of 75 short and feature films, which were selected and invited as honorary entries by the organizers, at the open-air cinemas Electra and Galaxy from June 12-16, and at the Municipal Space Beau Rivage from July 25-26, on Loutraki beach. The Loutraki International Film Festival “BRIDGES” was honored by the presence of various notable figures, including Theoni Mavromatidou, Deputy Mayor for Culture, Education, and Events, Alkiviadis Dritsas, Municipal Councilor, Chrysoula Pappa, President of the Local Community of Loutraki-Perachora, Athena Gyftopoulou, Regional Council Candidate, Eleni Kalouda, Board Member of the Federation of Residents of Agioi Theodoroi, Fofi Pappa, member of the Experience Perachora team, singer Eleni Roda, actors Iakovos Mylonas, Evi Karadima, Nana Christina Tzavara, Petros Ioannou, Avraam Papadopoulos, lawyers Nikos Lois and Christos Tzoanos, board members of the Corinth Bar Association, Dimitris Karachristos, President of the Loutraki Mountaineering Club, Dimitra Stamouli, President of the Agioi Theodoroi Women’s Association, and Olga Konomodi-Thoma, President of the Art & Literature Association “Alkyonides”.

Although the Loutraki International Film Festival “BRIDGES” is non-competitive, the organizers prioritized audience feedback, and the audience awards were announced as follows:

  1. Feature Film: “God’s Painting” – Yannis Kalogeropoulos, Greece, 2023, 96′
  2. Debut Feature Film: “The Island of the Centaurs” – Alastair Romãno, Greece, 2024, 92’37”
  3. Short Film: “De Jure Et De Facto – The 60’s Generation” – Aliki Ioanna Papapetrou, Greece, 2024, 17’30”
  4. Feature Documentary: “Shalom – Salaam – Peace” – Alexia Tsouni, Greece, 2024, 58′
  5. Short Documentary: “Zeibekiko in Beirut” – George Eid, Lebanon, 2020, 15′
  6. Student Short Film (shared award): “The Last Forest” – Betty Kostadinova, Greece, 2024, 3′ and “Greta Thunberg” – Antonios Giavroglou, Greece, 2024, 7’10”

Parallel events of the 6th Loutraki International Film Festival “BRIDGES” included a group exhibition of visual arts and mixed media creations at Beau Rivage. The Experience Perachora team presented part of the revival exhibition “Glance of Honor” about the Battle of Perachora in 1822, captured by photographer Ilias Pergantis.

The Agioi Theodoroi Women’s Association participated with the decorative applications and mixed media department, led by instructor Evi Giannaina, who exhibited cinema-themed paintings and presented a mixed media workshop with students Dora Avgousti and Maria Vouidaski. Personal creations were also presented by members Vasso Stamou, Mina Giannouli, Julia Logacheva, and Petra Terzi.

Works from the seminar by artist Efi Kampoureli, who presented techniques to the association this year, were also showcased, including “Akrorgyalia” and “Mask”.

Director Alexis Chaviaras designed the poster and logo of the Loutraki International Film Festival “BRIDGES”.

The event was organized by the charitable Cultural Society Cineart. The organizers thank all the media that communicated the Festival’s news to the public, the Corinth Canal Company, Mr. Spyros Katavatis, and look forward to meeting artists, audiences, and local entities at the next 15th Peloponnese International Film Festival “BRIDGES,” which will be held in Corinth from November 18-23.
